Incoming Chairpersons Views

Cheers to the founders and former Board members for their visionary leadership and commitment that has seen LABE grow from a miniature organization to one with well laid systems and policies! Surely, I feel humbled and greatly challenged as I take on the responsibility of the LABE Board Chairperson for the next couple of years. I take this responsibility knowing well that a foundation has been laid and that it must be sustained and built to greater heights.

It has been my conviction that the Millennium Development Goals could be faster achieved if our Governments and the Development Partners increase investments in literacy and basic education. I am proud to be associated with LABE as an agency that aspires to promote literacy practices, increase access and utilization of information particularly amongst women and children in local communities. These efforts have direct positive impact in eradicating poverty, improving well being of households and preservation of our physical environment.

As a new Board, we have embraced and pledge to remain committed to LABE’s mission and vision. We will work with current and potential partners and supporters of LABE to strengthen the organization to fulfill its aspirations. We will leverage our diverse skills, experiences and influence to build LABE to a greater organization.
