LABE marks Global week of Action in Northern Uganda

 

LABE in partnership with UNICEF and the directorate of education Amuru district will join the world to mark the Global Week of action under the theme: Quality Education to end exclusion.

10 schools have been targeted to hold school open days. This is an opportunity for parents to visit their children at school and openly share with the teachers about   the learning process of their children.

Children will display their works such as art work, books and recite poems and riddles.

There will be reading and writing competitions among the children per class.

5 schools are targeted to participate in the inter school debates.

This is intended to build children confidence and self esteem especially among girls. The topics are around parents’ involvement in children education and creating home learning environment for extended learning.

LABE has initiated home learning corners in 480 school communities in northern Uganda and westnile.The corners are equipped with basic learning materials for parents to help the children learn at home. Parents are encouraged to allow their girls time to read so as to improve on the performance.
